This is another dosa / pancake I tried making for my baby and it turned out so well and yummy, healthy too.
I was planning to give her oats in some form, but she doesn’t like the porridges much. One of my ex colleagues had told me that eat white oats with curd, they taste yumm and even cooking is not required. I never tried doing that but thought of giving a try to the oats dosa with curd.
Ingredients (Healthy oats recipe)
Oats Powder (Dry roast white oats and grind them in mixer) 4 teaspoons
Rava / Suji / Semolina 2 teaspoons
Curd 3 teaspoons
water as required for the batter consistency
ghee to roast the dosa
Salt as per taste (avoid salt if baby is less than 1 year old)
Mix Oats powder and rava in a mixing bowl (proportion is 2:1 – if you take 2 teaspoons of oats powder then 1 teaspoon rava is required).
Add curd and give it a stir till the time it forms a thick paste.
Add some water to make it a dosa like consistency.
Keep aside for 15-20 minutes.
After 15-20 minutes, stir the batter again.
Add Salt as per taste
Add some more water as Oats and rava soak the water. Bring it to a dosa like pouring consistency.
Heat a tava / griddle, apply ghee.
Pour the batter over the tava / griddle spread it in circular motion. Don’t spread too thin as it will become crispy dosa, and babies are not tend to eat crispy dosas. Rather keep it little thick, not too thick so that it will be soft ideally for babies.
cover it with a lid.
Let it cook for a while. Oats dosa takes longer than other kinds of dosas as it remains sticky. To avoid stickiness let it get cooked properly so that you will be able to flip it easily.
Flip the dosa to the other side and let it roast properly from both the sides.
PS: You can store the roasted and ground oats powder in an airtight container and keep it in refrigerator and can make quick dosas anytime you want.
You can add spices and veggies for a variation.
I prefer making small puri size oats dosas so that they are easy to flip over.
