First Time Mom?? Me too!!!
So a lot of confusion and lack of knowledge that what to eat, what changes to be done in Lifestyle and what would be best to do to have a healthy and happy pregnancy. I got bits of advice from my mother, mother-in-law, and sisters-in-law; read many books and at last these all were the experiments following the advice and the reviews on many public forums.
After a lot of research, I found some of the best products that I benefited from throughout my pregnancy and post pregnancy.
1. Prega News
The first ever product to be used during pregnancy is a pregnancy confirmation tool kit Prega News. Yess!!! Prega news se mili mujhe life ki sabse badi good news!!! Though we get all the intuitions and symptoms like vomiting and all, still it’s better to have confirmed with these tools and a gynaec for sure. This toolkit confirmed my pregnancy positivity in 3rd week of pregnancy. It gives 2 pink lines if you have a positive pregnancy. I had got a very very light pink line as it was too early to confirm a pregnancy in 3rd week of conceiving. And If you ever get these two pink lines, the tool kit never gonna lie. You are pregnant for sure.
2. Shatavari Kalp (Asparagus Malt)
Shatavari kalp is basically an asparagus malt to be mixed with milk and comes in granulated form. After getting the confirmation of pregnancy through the Prega news kit and my gynaec I started having Shatavari Kalp of Dr. Balaji Tambe’s Santulan brand. Which was claimed to be the best as it was having extra beneficial ingredients along with shatavari base. And It tasted much much better than any other shatavari kalp brand. It helps to have enough milk supply post pregnancy & I could breastfeed my baby just after 5 minutes of birth as colostrum had started flowing immediately after baby’s birth. My gynaec and visiting pediatrician had said that you have got sufficient milk supply and colostrum started flowing within few minutes of delivery. That’s really good for the baby. I said “All thanks to the Shatavari Kalp I am having”.
I started having 2 spoons mixed with 250 ml milk in morning. (Daily recommended milk amount was 500 ml)
It is recommended to have this malt till the time you breastfeed the baby for maintaining the milk supply and providing nutrition to lactating mother. It helps reduce the post pregnancy fatigue and a mother can feel energetic. I am still breastfeeding my 21 months old baby and having shatavari regularly.
3.Bio – Oil
As I saw many commercial advertisements of this new product from Marico, was curious about it. It claims to be effective in scar removal, healthy skin tone and those itchy stretch marks. Luckily I got it as a gift from a friend. And I started using it regularly (twice a day). I was not sure that it was going to work or not but was hoping for the best. And as the best result of it, I did not get even a single stretch mark. No itch, no marks nothing. This is highly recommended as per my personal experience.
4. Abbott’s Mama’s Best (Renamed as SimMom)
This pregnancy health drink was prescribed by my gynecologist in the 2nd month of my pregnancy. Since then I started having once a day with 250 ml of milk. (Daily recommended milk amount was 500 ml).
It helped me to tolerate the taste of milk as I always used to feel like puking while having milk. In entire pregnancy, I could not bear the smell of milk. But this chocolate flavored malt made it easier for me.
And the combination of Mama’s best and Santulan Shatavari Kalp helped a lot to have good lactation and avoid fatigue.
So all the above-mentioned products are my personal recommendations.
Apart from this Folic Acid is a must since the beginning. Some health sites recommend to have it since the planning stage. Lack of Folic Acid can harm the fetus and can affect its growth.
Calcium and Iron are mandatory too after a specific period. I was prescribed my Iron supplement in the 4th month and calcium supplement in the 5th month and recommended to have it till you breastfeed the baby for the ideal level of good milk supply and a healthy body to the mother also.
