Planned for a Christmas dinner and we decided to have some eggetarian delights. And the nearest possible restaurant was Lucky as we were in Bandra. It was too crowded and had waiting time of 15-20 minutes (as told by the manager). LUCKIly we got a table for 2 within few minutes.
We got a place in the basement area so the first disadvantage was losing the mobile networks. Waiter took more than 5 minutes to notice our presence as then served some water and gave us the menu card after 10 minutes. We placed an order for 1 plate boiled eggs, egg masala, butter naan, rumali roti, Jeera Rice, Roasted Papad. Out of the entire order, only papad and jeera rice was up to the mark. Everything else was below average.
Butter naan was too chewy and salty.
Rumali roti was equally bad. Extremely thick, chewy and softness was a far away thing.
Egg masala’s gravy tasted just below average (and we had headed to this restaurant only to have some good egg dish and it came out as a big spoiler).
Jeera rice was above average and roasted papad was good.
Then we ordered caramel custard with no high hopes, but it was the savior of the entire dinner.
The Caramel Custard was mind-blowing. It was surely extraordinary so ended up having 3 caramel custards.
The conclusion is that the restaurant is not worth trying anymore. Some people still swear by the food served in Lucky, but it Spoiled the Christmas mood.
The caramel custard saved our day. May head to the restaurant just for the desserts. And the Papad of course. Overall can rate this restaurant only 2 stars. One for the papad one for the caramel custard. Maybe a half star for the jeera rice for its long grains and good taste (Well, not an excellent rice though).
